He is an excellent lecturer, able to put across the most difficult matters clearly and volubly. Michał is known for his consistency in carrying tasks through and quickness with which he reaches his goals.
Michał began diving at the age of 14, in 1996. The adventure started with his involvement in LOK (National Defence League) and CMAS organisations. As early as on turning adult in Corsica, he was awarded the PADI Divemaster rating, while in 2001 he became a PADI diving instructor under Witek Śmiłowski's supervision. Ever since, he has granted over 1500 PADI certificates, 500 of which feature instructor-level rating. In 2009, at the age of 27, he achieved the rank of PADI Course Director. Since that time, within the framework of his activity at the School of Diving Instructors, he won the title of Platinum Course Director for the years 2010, 2011 and 2012. In 2011, he was awarded a distinction for his contribution to PADI instructor training.
Michał Kosut is also a tec diving Instructor Trainer at DSAT. His favourite depth range is 60 to 80 metres. It is wreck tec diving that constitutes his favourite form of the activity, one that gives him the best opportunity to recharge his batteries. He is also a tec sidemount program trainer. Recently, he has developed an interest in CCR diving and has been consistently gaining diving experience with this kind of equipment. In addition, Michał has originated his own TecRec specializations: Tec Rescue Diver and Tec Support Diver. Not only has he been very actively pursuing his development, but first and foremost he has been amassing his professional experience through hard work. As a diving guide and then diving instructor, he has worked in Croatia, Corsica, Egypt, in Polish lakes as well as on the peninsula of Hel.
In Poland, he managed one of the largest diving centres, also holding the position of head of training. For two years, he worked at DAN Europe's Italian branch as a manager in the training department. In his tenure with the organisation, he was responsible for the day-to-day operation of the training department as well as ran a variety of DAN training sessions and implemented new training programs (including DAN On-Site Neurological Assessment for Divers and First Aid).
Currently, he holds the position of Polish Regional Training Coordinator, also providing International DAN training consultancy. Moreover, he is one of the five Europe-based persons entitled to examine DAN Instructors Trainers. He has granted over 900 DAN certificates for ranks ranging from Rescue Diver to Instructor Trainer. Michał had met Witek in 1999 and ever since he had known that he was the man who would change his life. Having completed his instructor course in 2001, Michał regularly trained under Witek and since 2004 he has been working as a professional trainer at Witek's centre. Since 2009, he has been Witek Śmiałowski's partner, running the School of Diving Instructors and all training sessions along with him. Now Michał continues Witek's work, managing the training centre.
Michał has a vivd interest in rescue medicine and in particular in matters related to diving accidents. His passion is first aid training and running more advanced medical courses. Besides being an EFR Instructor Trainer, he has also completed training programs in advanced resuscitation treatments, BTLS and emergency medicine (EMT). He boasts the unique Diver Medic Technician certificate issued by the hyperbaric centre in Plymouth, UK. Together with Witek, he wrote the original Recompression Chamber Awareness guidebook, thanks to which divers have an opportunity to familiarize themselves with hyperbaric chamber treatment procedures. Michał Kosut studied on the faculty of Political Science at the University of Warsaw. He also completed the prestigious trainer course at Kontrakt Polish School of Business Trainers. Apart from diving, he is keen on the psychology of the teaching process, public appearances and multimedia presentations.
Michał devotes a lot of his time to training programs which develop his passions. He is the author of numerous presentations on diving, first aid and diving accidents. Recently, he has become an enthusiast of Apple products, continually looking for their new training applications.
